As we grow as a company, it has become more and more important to explicitly define our core values.
1. Live In the WOW!
BRING AN EXPERIENCE TO EACH LISTENER THAT WILL CHANGE THEIR LIFE FOREVER.
WOW is such a short, simple word however it really encompasses a lot of things. To WOW, you must differentiate yourself, which means doing something a little unconventional and innovative. You must do something that is above and beyond what's expected. Whatever you do must have an emotional impact on the receiver. We are not your average music company. Our service is not average, and we don't want our people to be average. We expect every team member to deliver WOW. Whether internally with co-members or externally with our artist and partners. Delivering WOW results in word of mouth for not only us, but for the artist as well.
2. Open Doors for Others
OUR FOCUS IS NEVER ON US.
True and sustainable happiness comes from when your goals are to open doors for others. Whether it’s another team member, an Artist, or someone that we bump into, our purpose is to open a door of happiness, experiences, real relationships, and genuine communication with everyone that we meet.
We understand that as we do this, not only will we be giving someone else a great experience, but we know that in life it's better to make someone else a star instead fighting to make us one.
3. Embrace being Weird
WE'RE STRIVING TO BE VIEWED AS "WEIRD" BY OUR COMPETITION.
One of the things that makes us different from all the other Music companies is that we value being weird. We don't want to become one of those companies that feels corporate and boring. We want to be able to laugh at ourselves. We look for both fun and personality in our work.
This means that many things we do might be a little unconventional or else it wouldn't be a little weird. We're not looking for crazy or extreme weirdness though. We want just some weirdness to make life more interesting and fun for everyone. We want the company to have a unique and memorable identity.
CONSTANT AND NEVER-ENDING IMPROVEMENT.
We do not want ever want to be afraid to take risks and make mistakes. We believe if people aren't making mistakes, then that means they're not taking enough risks. Over time, we want everyone to develop their gut making decisions. We want people to develop and improve their decision-making skills. We encourage people to make mistakes as long as they learn from them.
We never want to become complacent and accept the status quo just because that's the way things have always been done. We should always be seeking adventure and having fun exploring new possibilities. By having the freedom to be creative in our solutions, we end up making our own opportunities. We approach situations and challenges with an open mind. Sometimes our sense of adventure and creativity causes us to be unconventional in our solutions (because we have the freedom to think outside the box), but that's what allows us to rise above.
We must all learn not only to not fear change, but to also embrace it enthusiastically, and perhaps even more importantly, to encourage and drive it. We must always plan for and be prepared for constant change.
Although change can and will come.
Never accept or be too comfortable with the status quo because, historically, the companies that get into trouble are the ones that aren't able to respond quickly enough and adapt to change. We are ever evolving people. If we want to be pioneers in the music industry, we must continually change and keep them guessing. They can copy our compilations, our free distribution, and the overall look of our company, but they cannot copy our people, our culture, or our love for people. As long as embracing constant change is a part of our culture, they will not be able to evolve as fast as we can.
5. Be Obsessed with Personal Growth
COMPANY GROWTH IS IMPORTANT. BUT, IF YOU ARE NOT GROWING AS AN INDIVIDUAL, AND GETTING EVERY OUNCE OUT OF LIFE THEN YOU'RE ROBBING YOURSELF OF A GREAT LIFE.
We believe that inside every person is more potential than even that person realizes. Our goal is to help everyone unlock that potential by finding their voice. But it has to be a joint effort: you have to want to challenge and stretch yourself in order for it to happen.
We grow as individuals because we take on new challenges, and we face even more challenges because we're growing. It's an endless cycle, and it's a good thing. It's the only way for a person to survive and grow however, it can also feel risky, stressful, and confusing at times.
Sometimes, it may seem that new problems crop up as fast as we solve the old ones (sometimes faster!), but that just means that we're moving – that we're getting better and stronger. Anyone who wants to compete with you has to learn the same things, so problems are just mile markers. Each one you pass means you've gotten better.
6. Go back to the Basics
WE NEVER WANT TO FORGET THE FOUNDATION OF OUR CULTURE.
We are committed to going back to the basics in our work and play. We remember that first initial feeling of being "WOW'ed" by someone or by some company. We want to go back to the basics of personal connections, touch, and experiences.
Society teaches that no one can be trusted you must be inward focused and worried only about yourself and your own goals.
We believe that it not only takes a village to grow a company, but most importantly it takes a village to bring a "WOW" experience to everyone we come in contact with and work alongside.
7. Be an Ambassador for the Voiceless
WE TAKE BEING HERE FOR ARTISTS VERY SERIOUS
While we may be casual in our interactions with each other, we are focused and serious about the operations of impacting Artists lives. We believe in working hard and putting in the extra effort to get things done.
We believe in operational excellence and realize that there is always room for improvement in everything we do. This means that our work is never done. In order to stay ahead of the competition (or would-be competition), we need to continuously innovate as well as make incremental improvements to our operations, always striving to make ourselves more efficient, always trying to figure out how to do something better. We use mistakes as learning opportunities.
We must never lose our sense of urgency in making improvements in the lives of listeners. We must never settle for "good enough" in our dealings with Artists because good is the enemy of great. While our goal is to become a great company, we also want to become the greatest service company in the world. We set and exceed our own high standards, constantly raising the bar for competitors and for ourselves.
8. Live With Passion And Determination
PASSION IS THE FUEL THAT DRIVES US AND OUR COMPANY FORWARD.
We are inspired because we believe in what we are doing and where we are going. We don't take "no" or "that'll never work" for an answer because if we had, then we would have never started this company in the first place.
Passion and determination are contagious. We believe in having a positive and optimistic (but realistic) attitude about everything we do because we realize that this inspires others to have the same attitude. There is excitement in knowing that everyone you work with has a tremendous impact on a larger dream and vision, and you can see that impact day in and day out.
9. Be an Example of the Importance of Relationships
THE QUALITY OF YOUR LIFE IS THE QUALITY OF YOUR RELATIONSHIPS.
We are doing things differently. Yes! This is a company that is powered by the voice of the voiceless, but we will never look at an Artist, another team member, business partner, or sponsors as a number or a dollar sign.
We are committed to real and sustainable relationships knowing that we can pull creativity from everyone and we hope to inspire creativity to others with our stories, and let everyone that we come in contact with know that they're important and valued by us.
We will be the model to everyone in this industry and to our competitors that it’s not the company with the biggest or best publicity campaign that wins, it’s the company with the best relationships in-house and beyond!
10. Treat Everyone Like A Celeb
IT'S NICE TO BE IMPORTANT, BUT IT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO BE NICE
We believe that no matter what happens we should always be respectful of everyone. While we celebrate our individual and team successes, we are not arrogant nor do we treat others differently from how we would want to be treated.
Instead, we carry ourselves with a quiet confidence because we believe that, in the long run, our character as a whole will speak for itself.
11. Treat every day like its Shark week
WE HAVE A REASON TO CELEBRATE EVERYDAY
When you're always looking for the big wins you miss the small victories that over time trample those so-called big victories. We find happiness in celebrating every win with our Artists and team members. Rather it is a major holiday, a Birthday, cupcake day or an Artist reaching a new milestone in their career. We look to everyday with the same excitement and amazement as we do when Shark week happens.
